In today's world there is constant messaging being sold to us that we must divide ourselves further in order to build the world we want. I've sat back and watched as communities, families and friends have drawn firm lines in the sand to distinguish a hard pressed "us vs them" mentality. Maybe I'm just stirring the pot further but sometimes it feels like the semantics of the word "climate change" have created more walls than bridges... a generational buzz word. ___ I often wonder if the emphasis should be placed more upon the basic understandings of our planet, and how it will thrive best. Do you believe pollution exists? Do you believe in protecting wild places? Do you believe in conservation of or precious resources and wild animals? Do you believe that we are stewards of this planet with a responsibility to ensure its longevity and health? Maybe it's naive but I feel I would be hard pressed to find someone that believes smog is healthy for their children, or enjoys another endangered species hitting the list. In such volatile times, its important to not give up building those bridges of understanding and communication...it's the only way we will build the world we all hope to see.
